Bali Experience bgEmirates Airline resumes its daily flights to Bali
Airline giant Emirates has resumed daily flights to Bali to meet passenger demand ahead of peak season. The airline has only recently (as of May 1, 2022) resumed flights to Bali, landing on the island for the first time in more than two years.
The airline has resumed operations to Bali with a five times weekly service, in light of increased demand, Emirates now operates a daily schedule to Ngurah Rai International Airport Bali.
Although Emirates is based in the United Arab Emirates, demand for the airline's services to Bali is largely from Europe. Searches for flights to Bali from London, Manchester, Barcelona, Paris and Frankfurt are among the top rankings on the airline's booking website. They are closely followed by Warsaw and Zurich.
The company published data showing that since the resumption of the Bali-Dubai emirate flights, the airline has operated 73 flights. These flights carried over 29,000 passengers to the Isle of the Gods in just 60 days.
There are very few direct flights from Europe to Bali. Many European travelers have to make a stopover on their trip to Indonesia, and Dubai is becoming an increasingly affordable and efficient stopover destination.
Other key stopover destinations on the Europe to Bali route are Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. Some travelers can find direct flights from Europe to the Indonesian capital Jakarta and catch a connecting flight to Bali.
The route from Dubai to Bali is not only used by European vacationers and digital nomads. Bali is becoming an increasingly popular destination for citizens and expats living in the United Arab Emirates. Travelers from the United Arab Emirates are entitled to a 30-day visa on arrival in Bali, as are citizens of 71 other countries.
The extension of the visa-on-arrival program in Indonesia is considered an important factor for many travelers, especially those who find deals at the last minute.
Emirates are careful with their flight schedules, the daily flights from Dubai to Bali come after a short layover from most European cities where travelers start their journey. For example, flying from London to Bali via Dubai in mid-July has a layover time of just 2 hours 45 minutes, perfect for passengers to get through security, stretch their legs, and get to the next plane door.
The flight time from Dubai to Bali is 8 hours and 55 minutes. The new daily schedule operates once a day departing from Dubai at 9.10 am local time and landing in Bali at 9.30 pm local time. The return flight departs Bali at 00:05 local time and lands in Dubai at 05:00 local time.
On June 20, Indonesia's Minister of Tourism and Creative Economies Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno spoke at his weekly press briefing, the new tourism destinations for Bali. He explained how he wants to see 1.5 million international visitors arrive in Bali before the end of the year, in addition to 7 million domestic tourists.
Minister Uno went on to explain how his department works to ensure the right balance between supply and demand for flights to Bali. The head of the Bali Regional Tourism Promotion Board, Prof. Thekorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati, also spoke at the briefing and explained how he believes the low number of flights at the moment is a significant obstacle to the recovery of Bali's tourism sector, even though the island is full of tourists already.
The resumption of Emirates' daily flight schedule to Bali is a good sign that the tourism sector is recovering strongly after airlines, hotels and tour operators reopened with caution. This may cause other major airlines to increase their flight schedules to make it even easier to visit the Island of the Gods during this peak season and beyond.
